Your audience’s first impression of your business is now based almost exclusively on your website – which means it needs to make the perfect impression of your organisation. It should establish your brand, provide information on your products or services, and ultimately prove to be one of your most important sales tools.
A fantastic design and good content will however only take you so far; your website should be changed and optimised as digital and industry standards evolve and trends change.
So what exactly should you focus on when giving your website a refresh?
The power of imagery is hard to believe, and you will see just how much of a difference they make when you refresh the imagery used on your website. Whether that be the banner images or the imagery throughout the site, regularly switching the imagery on your site is a really easy way to make a quick but noticeable change.
Search engines give preferential treatment in the listings to website that are regularly updated. Just by making subtle changes to your website, you are showing that your website is current and fresh, and the place to be for information! You can take your search engine result position even higher by adding new text, checking for incorrect links, optimising image descriptions and URLs, and intricately weaving your keywords throughout your copy.
Analyse your competitors
Updating your website is great, but you need to be aware of what other people are doing in the market. What trends are current? What are users actively searching for – and do you provide the answers? It’s good to do a competitor analysis from time to time, so that you can ensure you are not only matching their efforts, but beating them!
The Boomerang team have been busy working away on updating our own site. We can’t wait to reveal what we’ve been working on behind the scenes!
