  1. BRANDING – Make sure your branding is consistent across all your channels. It makes it easier for people to find you and identify your brand in a crowd of other profiles – including your competitors; you want to stand out!

  2. TONE OF VOICE – Get the balance right between corporate and personable. You are a business, but you want your customers to feel comfortable enough to reach out to you and talk about your brand or product. The tone of voice you use is so important in creating the right experience for your followers and potential customers. Think professional but approachable – and don't be afraid to use emoji's here and there!

  3. ENGAGEMENT – Ideally social media should be a discussion, not just your brand talking about your products and your services. You want to ask your social audience questions, engage them, get them involved, and give them a reason to want to follow you.

  4. CUSTOMER SERVICE – Since Facebook introduced the 'replies in x minutes' feature on Facebook Business pages, it is now more important than ever to reply to enquiries as its visible on your profile how long it takes! It should take no more than 24 hours to reply to someone's enquiry on your social media, and you can even set up Automatic Replies to reply for you on the first message, courteously letting the enquirer know that you will get back to them.

  5. STAY ON TREND – Lastly, it's important to stay on trend. News items and trending topics are great to join in with and post about on your social channels, however, make sure you exercise caution on any political or potentially offensive content which might land you in a PR disaster!
